I am certain that most of you have heard the good news regarding our efforts to secure funds for the replacement of the Dulaney and Towson High school buildings. It was a major coordinated effort between state and local officials and the school board itself. This effort could not have been possible without the hundreds of you who wrote and called the school board to address this misguided decision.
As always, the assistance of Friends of Dulaney and Towson Advocates was invaluable, and certainly credit is due to our Board Member in the Third District, Kathleen Causey and Fifth District Member Julie Henn, along with the advocacy of sixth district member, Lilly Rowe. With their help, the Baltimore County Board of Education did vote to include both schools in the County’s Capital Budget request for the upcoming State Legislative Session.
Just to be safe, and to keep the momentum, I strongly urge you to contact Governor Hogan and the County Executive and encourage them to include both schools in their upcoming Capital Budget request to their respective legislative branches. While these schools are now listed on the Capital Budget request to the State, the Governor still must make the affirmative decision to provide funding. A similar process takes place as well in Baltimore County. Both the Governor and County Executive are very familiar with both projects and have expressed support previously.

It is vital that the Baltimore County Senators and Delegates work closely with the Baltimore County lobbying team in Annapolis during the upcoming General Assembly to coordinate efforts to continue the process of new school construction. The school board vote was vital in this process, but there is more work to do.
