A New Dulaney high School is About to Become a Long Awaited Reality

Today, the County Executive has anounced his intentions that his upcoming FY 2019 budget will include planning and design money for the construction of a new Dulaney High School.

I am so pleased that the Kamenetz Administration has heeded the voices of the Dulaney community, and the voices of all elected officials dutifully representing them.

With the inclusion of planning and design money in the upcoming budget, a new Dulaney High School will finally become a reality.

My deepest appreciation to the Friends of Dulaney High School for their tireless efforts, to the Third District’s outstanding School board member Kathleen Causey for her advocacy, and to Senator Jim Brochin, Delegates Christopher West and Susan Aumann for their work at the state level. I also wish to thank Governor Larry Hogan and Comptroller Peter Franchot for their leadership in shining a statewide spotlight on this and their fiscal commitments to this cause, and finally again to the County Executive for listening to the strong and unified voices of all of us.

As elected officials we have all worked together so closely with the Dulaney community and the Friends of Dulaney. Last year, when there was no money allocated for this project, the Friends of Dulaney and I remained optimistic that working together we could do this.

Today, with the County Executive’s announcement, we are moving forward. A new Dulaney High School will become a reality.
